Donor-Advised Funds

If you have a donor-advised fund (DAF) through a community foundation, brokerage, or sponsoring organization, recommending a grant to Earth Talks Foundation is one of the simplest ways to support our environmental education and action programs.

01 What is a donor-advised fund?

A donor-advised fund is a tax-efficient vehicle for charitable giving. You contribute cash, appreciated securities, or other assets to a fund at a sponsoring organization, become eligible for a charitable income tax deduction in the year of your gift, and then recommend grants — including recurring or one-time gifts to Earth Talks Foundation — on your own timeline.

Many donors use DAFs to simplify their giving, grant appreciated stock without triggering capital gains tax, or support a cause consistently from a single account.

02 Information for your grant recommendation

When you’re ready to recommend a grant, your DAF sponsor will typically ask for the following:

Tax status: 501(c)(3) public charity

Some DAF sponsors search by legal name rather than DBA. If your sponsor can’t locate us, search “Rotary Earth Network,” “Earth Talks Foundation”, or reach out to us directly. Here is a link to our IRS Determination Letter.

03 Two organizations, one mission

Earth Talks Foundation (ETF), legally Rotary Earth Network, is an Idaho nonprofit corporation and 501(c)(3) public charity. It is a separate legal entity from — and is not controlled by — Rotary International, The Rotary Foundation, or Rotary District 5400. ETF provides funding, professional expertise, and administrative support for environmental education and action programs, including those of the affiliated Earth Network Rotary Club (ENRC), a Rotary e-club and 501(c)(4) social welfare organization. Donor-advised fund grants and other tax-deductible gifts should be directed to Earth Talks Foundation.

04 Why give this way

Tax-efficient. Claim your charitable deduction when you contribute to the fund, then decide when and how much to grant.
Flexible. Recommend a one-time gift or set up recurring grants to support our programs year after year.
Simple. Give appreciated stock, mutual fund shares, or other assets without the paperwork of a direct transfer.
Lasting. Many donors use their DAF to build an ongoing relationship with the causes they care about most.
